Dry skin on your face? It could be dandruff!

Will Marcus

You can get dandruff on your face! In short, dandruff is caused by a fungus that lives on your skin. It eats your natural oils and produces waste products that make your immune system flare up. The redness and flakes are a result of your immune system making new cells way too fast – faster than the old ones have time to fall off naturally! So with nowhere to go, those cells clump into the flakes you see on your scalp and shoulders.

The reason most people get dandruff on their scalp is because that’s where most people have the most skin oil! Some of us, like myself, have oily skin in other places like the T-Zone and beard… and I have been dealing with flakes and redness in those places for most of my life!

All of this is to say that my shampoo keeps my whole head flake-free. One of the benefits of our ultra-gentle formula is that it is safe and effective to use as a face wash and a body wash. There’s a lot of marketing jargon out there, but at the end of the day, shampoo, facewash, and bodywash are all soap. While we wouldn’t recommend using another shampoo for all three duties, ours is gentle enough on your skin, hard enough on fungus, and chock-full of anti-inflammatory and hydrating ingredients to truly be that versatile.

TLDR: Use Structure of Skin on your whole head in the shower and as a standalone face wash. If you are prone to dandruff, you can get it in other places. You might find that our shampoo clears blemishes off your face as well as it clears the flakes from your scalp (or beard in my case!) Please note that these types of skin symptoms have all kinds of possible causes, and you should consult a dermatologist if you really struggle with them. That said, you should try our shampoo first – if it doesn’t clear your skin, keep the bottle and get your money back!
